iPhone 8

Another year and yet, another iPhone arrived. iPhone 8 was introduced on 12 September at the new Steve Jobs Theater at the brand new “Apple Park” corporate campus. At that event, they not only unveiled the new iPhone 8 but its big brother, iPhone 8 Plus, Apple TV 4K, all new Apple Watch and last but not the least Apple iPhone X, the next generation of smartphone from Apple.

But today we will talk about the smaller sibling a.k.a, iPhone 8. Starting from today iPhone 8 is officially available in India. You can buy new iPhone from the authorised Apple reseller stores today. You can just order it online from the leading online stores. While we are at it, be sure to check the great offers from Jio, as you can prebook your iPhone from their own Jio app with great discounts.

iPhone 8 is a mixed bag of new build materials with combined with old-ish design. The overall design is the same as the design of the previous-generation devices, but the iPhone 8 adopts new glass body sandwiched in a matching aluminium frame.

Available in three colours, Silver, Space Gray, and a new Gold shade, the iPhone 8 features the most durable glass ever in a smartphone in a reinforced steel and aluminium structure that is IP67 water and dust resistant. The stereo speaker setup in the device has also been updated to be 25 percent louder with deeper bass.

The iPhone 8 features a 4.7-inch display with a resolution of 1334 by 750 with 326 pixels per inch with 1400:1 contrast ratio.

The screen looks great for an LCD and now has Apple’s True Tone system from the iPad Pro which alters the colours of the display based on the ambient light. Samsung and competitors have had similar systems on their smartphones for years, and it makes the screen more attractive but sacrifices colour accuracy.

The iPhone comes packed with the ultra-fast Apple A-11 Bionic Chip, Apple claims this as the fastest SOC(System On Chip) present in the market. A-11 Bionic is six-Core, 64 Bit Processor.

The six-core A11 Bionic has two high-performance cores and four power-efficient cores and is apparently the most powerful so far because it can use a combination of all six at once.

The phone also comes with 2GB of RAM which is more than sufficient to fire-up different applications at once.

With the combination of high-performance processor and capable RAM, this just takes on anything that is available in the app store.

The iPhone 8 features a more advanced 12-megapixel wide-angle f/1.8 camera with a larger, faster sensor that lets in 83 percent more light.

A new Apple-designed image signal processor introduces faster autofocus in low light, new pixel processing techniques for sharpness and texture.

The image signal processor also detects people, motion, and lighting conditions in a scene to optimize photos before they’re taken.

There’s a quad-LED True Tone Flash with a Slow Sync feature that combines a slow shutter speed with a strobe pulse for a brighter foreground subject and properly exposed background in low lighting conditions.

Wireless Fast Charging

The glass body of the iPhone 8 enables an inductive wireless charging feature, which is new to Apple’s iOS device lineup.

Apple has adopted the Qi open wireless charging standard that’s built into many Android devices, so the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus can charge wirelessly using any Qi-certified charging accessory.

Qi charging is inductive, which means the iPhone 8 must be placed on a charging mat.

Augmented Reality

The iPhone 8 has designed with augmented reality apps in games in mind, with the A11 Bionic chip handling world tracking and scenes while the GPU renders realistic graphics.

A new image signal processor handles real-time lighting estimation, the cameras have been calibrated for augmented reality with 4K 60 fps support.

It has improved on low-light capabilities, while a new gyroscope and accelerometer enable more accurate motion tracking.
